About the role
Working within the Wholesale health and safety team, you will be responsible for supporting the continuous development of a positive health and safety culture, by training, coaching, and supporting colleagues and management, thereby ensuring that company safety policies are followed and the business is legally compliant.
You will also work with the team to develop policies and procedures when required, and ensure that all PPE, equipment, risk assessments and training are inclusive and fit for purpose.
This role will have regular travel to branches within the Cash and Carry Network in and around Kent and London.
You will be responsible for
- Analysing trends of accidents and working with priority branches to reduce the risk of recurrence.
- Oversight of business centre segregation matrices and fire plans, particularly in relation to refits, to ensure they are maintained and effective.
- Spot checking of risk assessments when on site, training and coaching the management teams to ensure accurate and timely completion.
- Supporting the control and eradication of food pests within branches, working with priority branches to reduce the risk of recurrence.
- Ensuring compliance with the mandatory conditions of the MHRA medicines licence, by making sure that safety, medicines, and food hygiene training is appropriate and completed; working with the training team to produce training materials.
- Creating inclusive content; attending and presenting at regional meetings, safety rep meetings and safety workshops.
- Investigating all Health and Safety and food hygiene related complaints and taking action to prevent recurrence.
You will need
- The ability to work as part of a team but also to work independently when required.
- The ability to think on your feet and make informed decisions at short notice.
- A hunger for continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation legislation.
- Health and safety qualification eg NEBOSH, IOSH.
- Food Hygiene qualification – Level 3 and above.
- Ability to prioritise activities and organise own work schedule.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, being able to communicate effectively and efficiently with colleagues at all levels of the business, customers and suppliers.
