About the role

We are looking to appoint a Buying Administrator in the Booker Retail Partners Head Office located in Harefield, supporting our Budgens and Londis Independent Retailers. This entry level position in the Trading team is the perfect role for someone who is looking to launch a career in Buying and gain commercial experience in the Retail/Wholesale sector.  

In this position you will play a pivotal part within the Trading team, working in a product category team with responsibility for a number of products and suppliers. Interacting closely with Buyers, Supply Chain and other business functions, the role manages many areas of Trading information and data administration including product set-up, pricing and promotions. The role will involve building strong working relationships with suppliers and supporting both the Trading team to deliver commercial targets and helping retailers to drive sales, profit and customer satisfaction.

You will be responsible for

Ensuring data quality excellence and providing full administrative support to the Buying team in the communication, system set-up and management of new lines, pricing and promotions

Achieving KPI targets and objectives to support the delivery of a first class retailer service and Trading commercial budgets

Working closely and developing strong relationships with suppliers on all areas of Buying administration, with the opportunity to attend and contribute in supplier meetings with the Buyer as appropriate  

Develop strong working relationships with Buyers and all internal departments in the planning and execution of projects and day-to-day activities which depend on product, price & promotions set-up and maintenance

Communicating effectively internally and externally to ensure your key responsibilities are delivered on time and accurately, putting in place the necessary reporting/controls, working with and challenging others

Strive to find the best ways of working and suggest/deliver improvements where required

You will need

A good standard of education

Experienced PC user with an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel

A willingness to learn new skills and an interest in building knowledge about the Retail & Wholesale sector

Strong work ethic in taking ownership to deliver on key activities and results

Good attention to detail and the tenacity to get things done ‘right first time’

To be reliable, calm, collected and focused on the task at hand in a fast paced and changing environment

Good communication, time management and organisational skills with ability to work effectively with others
