The working hours/pattern for this role will be discussed and confirmed at interview. About the role

We are looking for an experienced Commercial Butcher to run our Butchery Department in our Watford site. This is an exciting role where you will champion the needs of the customer, understand your local market and provide them with great service. You will work alongside the Store Manager to develop a business plan that will support the growth in sales and profitability of your department

Of course you will need to make sure that you are all over the legal requirements that come with running a fresh food department and you will make sure that these standards are delivered consistently and that your team know the expectations required too. There will be no "beefing" around when it comes to legalities.

You will be responsible for

The profitable and legal operation of the Meat Department. To achieve this you will lead your team of butchers , coaching them on delivering the highest operational standards and customer service. We have trainees too, so you will take them under your wing and develop them into being key members of the team.

Delivering profitable sales growth is fundamental to the role and by working closely with the site Manager and the Catering Development Manager you will be able to offer experience and advice to your customer base so that they too can grow. This will come through understanding your customers' needs. As a Butchery Manager in Booker we expect you to be the Business Partner to the catering businesses in your local area.

You will need

Previously experience of running your own Butcher shop/department- coaching and developing a team of Butchers

Commercial awareness and the understanding of yields and costs

Proven ability to manage profit and loss margins.

Excellent customer service and cutting skills

Experience of working with carcases and knowledge of businesses within your local area is an advantage but not essential
